The Blog

Alright, so I have been asked by a few family and friends if I would be keeping a journal of sorts to document my time in Paris. Originally I said no, but I decided that it probably is something I should at least take a shot at, if not for those who are interested in reading then for me someday down the road. I've never really been the type of girl to keep a journal or diary or anything so please bare with me as I struggle through my first blogging attempt haha. A few disclaimers- I can't spell to save my life. There are bound to be endless spelling errors for which I apologize in advance. Second, I'm no writer kids! So there is a chance that this may be extremely dull haha. Either way I will do my best to record and convey all of my adventures and excitement from Paris this month!

Bienvenue a ma blog de m'ete a Paris! J'espere que vous l'aimez!
Welcome to my blog from my summer in Paris! I hope you like it!

Le premier jour

Hola! :)

Well I'm here! Which is still kind of crazy for me to think about. The plane ride was miserable! As I think most 7 hour plane rides  probably are. At one point in the night I didn't think I was going to be able to make it my butt hurt so bad from those seats! It just wasn't fun hah. But we're here, no bags were lost, and our room is eh, alright hah. Its like a dorm room but with four of us (bunk beds!), two showers (with no curtains), and dorm beds (same level of comfort aka none). But the fact that its all in Paris makes it pretty bearable I think :)

First off a few misconceptions about the romanticized view of Paris. Its not all shiny and glamorous, but still all beautiful in its own way. Its definitely got that older country vibe going, makes America feel like an infant! Simply walking the streets has been such an experience in itself. Seeing all the little shops and cafes all smooshed together so closely. The chairs and tables at the cafes even are pretty much up against one another. Its different but its pretty interesting to watch the unique cultural values manifested in different ways. They do not eat on the run, that became evident while we were eating the most delicious gelato everrr as we walked the streets- we got lots of odd looks from people! We also got looks when some of our NYers tried to J walk in the street and we almost were run over by a BMW going at least 60 (which in these streets is pretty fast)! But we made it back to our home away from home without any real problems and are settling in for our first night, though its deceiving as its 11pm and still not completely dark out! Good thing I'm tired enough to sleep for days, so bon soir!

C'est la vie a Paris!
